I slept for 12 hours straight. But after a 5-hour flight, then 12-hours overnight in the Frankfurt airport, followed by another 10-hours on an airplane, I'd say an uninterrupted 12 hours of sleep was well-deserved.
I woke up feeling strange yet alert. My next task? I. Must. Shower.
Yes, even before coffee. (Gasp!)
It may not seem like a big deal, but let me tell you. Living overseas has both it's perks and challenges. In India, I took bucket baths. Of course, in 115 degree temps and insane amounts of humidity, it doesn't matter how you wash as long as you have clean water pouring over your body. In Iraq, our water was clean but our shower pressure was, to say the least, pathetic. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it was a salt build-up in the pipes? Maybe it was simply poor plumbing? Anyhow, after regularly depending on a shower head that trickles water like a baby sprinkler that's been stomped on by an elephant, I'd like to give thanks for one simple factor-
Water pressure. Glory hallelujah!
