Now that I've left the Middle East, which, the obvious factors includes but is not limited to crossing a few rather large continents, oceans, and a plethora of time zones- I've been a bit out of sorts the past fews days. I've been waking up super early- 4am, hello! And I've been crashing in the afternoon and then trying to stay up at night to fellowship with dear friends and acquire some kind of regular schedule...
All that said, I haven't exactly been up to par to write well-thought out blogs every night. Hence, the list below for the past few days.
13th: Ethnic food. Don't get me wrong, I love, LOVE Middle Eastern food, but after several months of it, a nice change of pace is a much anticipated venture. As a welcome back dinner, my wonderful roommate took me out to Garcia's, a little authentic Mexican joint in Lincoln Square. To be honest, I had visions of diving into the vat of guacamole and smearing the cheese queso all over my face. Yes. That good.
14th: House Church. I've missed so many of these faces- it was such a joy to enter back into the fellowship (LOTR, anyone?) and especially on this specific day, a night of prayer and Baba's Birthday! Yay! Too bad everyone's Daniel fasting. Less cake. Nonetheless, awesome.
15th: Frankie & Janelle Rodriguez and their new baby Enoch! I got to hold this little guy, stare dreamy-eyed at his adorable face, nose, fingers, cheeks and everything else little and cute that babies possess. *Sigh.
16th: My roomies. First of all, I love people. Second of all, when those people are my lovely and incredible roommates and not only that but my friends and dedicated followers of Jesus, it's like winning triple play on Jeopardy with a bonus of confetti and balloons falling from a surprise ceiling vault. My roommates are awesome. Thanks for welcoming me back with such grace, extra groceries and a Narnian Friday movie night!
17th: The Genius guys at the Mac Store. While I was overseas, I thought it was a "genius" idea to prop up my computer on an ironing board and watch a special on healing & evangelism while running on the treadmill. Not even 5 minutes into my run, the ironing board lost a peg and the London Bridges, Humpty and my (new!) computer came tumbling down. (I still cringe at the memory). The lines running across my screen are a constant reminder of that precious (not) moment. But today, all that will change. Thanks Mac Store genius, guys! Glad to be in your general vicinity again. High fives all around!
